What is Energy Therapies?

Human beings are not only material carbon organisms but also have a vibrational energy field. The biological form consists of organs, tissues, bones, muscles, blood, cells, and molecules. Cells are made of molecules, and molecules are made of atoms. The atoms of the cells emanate energy. Neurons (brain cells) and cells use electrical and chemical signals to communicate each other. Synchronized activity in large groups of neurons, such as in neural networks, produces stronger, observable electromagnetic fields that can even be detected. We emit energy waves, and receive different energy frequencies from the environment. The way we live, think, and feel affects the energies of the cells, which creates changes in our magnetic field.

Our physical state, environmental factors, living conditions, daily dietary habits, physical activities ( such as running, walking, dancing, or any sport) have an important impact on our physical and mental health.
Our relationships with family, friends, colleagues, and life partners all affect our mental state. Additionally, memories, experiences, emotions, wisdom, beliefs, and unconscious identities also have a significant impact on our magnetic field. When we are stressed or have a negative emotion, we create negative energy pollution in our environment. Most importantly, our emotions can affect our DNA as well. A study by Glen Rein and Rollin McCraty, published in 1994, indicated that emotions could affect DNA structure. Positive emotions such as love and appreciation may cause relaxation or unwinding of the DNA strands, while negative emotions may cause contraction of the DNA strands.

Energy therapies primarily aim to balance the body, mind, and consciousness systems in all of the above-mentioned areas on a complementary basis. Balancing these systems begin with awareness. Once we realise the negative effects of experiences on our physical body, emotional body, mental body, energy body, or our mind, we can take action to solve it. All these so-called bodies are linked with each other. According to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) our physical body does not only digest the food we eat but also digests our thoughts and emotions. Constant worry and overthinking are strongly linked to the Stomach meridian and can deplete its vital energy (Qi), leading to a weakened digestive system. Our respiratory system does not only inhale oxygen and exhale carbon dioxide but also eliminates and lets go of our sadness and grief. The large intestine does the same as they are pair meridians of metal element. Imbalances in this organ pair can manifest as difficulty processing sadness, grief (Lung) or an inability to release past issues, leading to constipation or emotional stagnation (Large Intestine). For example, when we lose a loved one or experience grief caused by an event, stress levels increase, which can weaken the immune system, making us more likely to catch a cold or experience diarrhoea. These responses allow the body to release grief through the lungs or large intestine. However, if the experience or any loss has a strong effect on us, we can hardly eliminate it via these systems. So, the negative energy flows in our thoughts and emotions can cause an unstoppable stream of thinking about the same subject over and over, which can negatively affect the mental and then physical body in the long term.

Therefore, balancing starts with awareness, continues with action to resolve it, ends with learning the lesson from the experience, and finally turns into wisdom. That is why the balance of body, mind, and consciousness is very important for our sanity and wellbeing.
